Blackboard Nails – A Chalkboard Manicure on the Cheap!

Blackboard Nails Matte Topcoat Ciate Chalkboard Manicure

Ever since the Caviar manicure, Ciate have been challenging us to take on textured talons. Most of their trends have required special kits, implements and ingredients to achieve the desired effect, sold at a considerable price for what’s essentially a fad. That is, until now. Ladies, I propose that you have everything you need to take on the latest trend right in your own polish stash. Let me present, Blackboard Nails, a Chalkboard Manicure on the cheap! Read on »

Git some grit! Barry M take on the Textured Nail Trend

Barry M Textured Nail Effects Review Swatches

Barry M have jumped on the textured nail bandwagon, with this suspiciously similar range to Nails Inc’s “Concrete” offering, right down to the British street names. Though we do love a good budget dupe round these parts, especially with fad/trend items, so who am I to complain! I picked these up in Superdrug across the border on special offer 2 for £6.00, so they were especially bargainous compared to Nails Inc’s £12.00 per bottle (yeowch!). Read on »

Illamasqua Inspired “Eggsellent Speckles” with L’Oréal Confetti Top Coat and Estée Lauder Dilettante Nail Lacquer

I definitely take an anything they can do I can DIY (maybe not better) approach when it comes to nails. Whether it’s frankening, foiling or gel-ing I’m game. Recently, the pretty hard to get in Ireland, Illamasqua released an interesting range of “mottled” nail polishes as part of their limited edition l’Imperfection collection. These babies are definitely on my lust-have list should I come across them in real life. But until then, I’ll just have to make do with channeling the look in my DIY style.

Hello Glossy! The magpie in me is loving these new Max Factor Glossfinity Nail Polishes.

Max Factor Glossfinity Nail Polish 110 Red Passion

I’m a total magpie. The minute I spot something shiny, I swoop down on it with my talons and hoard it in my nest. Because of my love of the shiny (and my inability to sit still for two seconds) I always use a quick dry high-shine topcoat (Seche Vite or Sally Hansen Insta-Dry if you’d like to know). So it was with interest my beady eye regarded the new range of Glossfinity Nail Polishes from Max Factor, which promise 7 days of glossy nails.  Read on »

I’ve had a nail polish org-anisation-asm. How do you organise yours?

We’ve had a little bunny emergency in Dolly HQ. My lovely Einstein fell ill which necessitated a rushed trip to the vet (Baribre O’Malley in Bray, best rabbit vet in Ireland), syringe feeding and minding. In all the madness I haven’t had the wits about me to think of an original post topic, so I’m shamelessly ripping-off taking inspiration from Lynnie of Beaut.ie. Ein is doing well now and on the road to recovery thankfully!

One short day in the Emerald City… Or year even, thanks to Pantone!

Pantone Colour Of The Year 2013 Emerald

In case you’ve been living under a rock, you may not have heard that The colour authority Pantone have declared that Emerald is the colour of 2013. In the same year that Failte Ireland are pushing “The Gathering” to shake down the diaspora. Hmm.  Read on »
