Mary Kay Sheer Dimensions Powder in Pearl

Mary Kay Sheer Dimensions Powder

With the despicable demise of Avon in Ireland a gap has been left in the market that a brand such as Mary Kay may just be able to fill; with a force of 33,000 regular women across the world now part of the Mary Kay Sales Directors team  I see huge potential for them in the Irish market. When I was approached by the brand recently I was  delighted to be given the opportunity to test some of their wares. Rather than lump everything in together I’ve decided to do individual reviews purely based on the fact that I have been super impressed with each product that I have tried. Read on »

Say hello to natural Irish skincare brand Nia!

Nia natural irish skincare

I am a lady full of contradictions; anything with the word natural appeals to me but  likewise I have been known to part with an awful lot of money for the latest in cosmeceutical products. It’s a beauty bloggers prerogative, right?! Since becoming pregnant though I do have to tread more carefully through the world of  beauty products, as both many natural and manufactured ingredients can cause issues. Read on »

Git some grit! Barry M take on the Textured Nail Trend

Barry M Textured Nail Effects Review Swatches

Barry M have jumped on the textured nail bandwagon, with this suspiciously similar range to Nails Inc’s “Concrete” offering, right down to the British street names. Though we do love a good budget dupe round these parts, especially with fad/trend items, so who am I to complain! I picked these up in Superdrug across the border on special offer 2 for £6.00, so they were especially bargainous compared to Nails Inc’s £12.00 per bottle (yeowch!). Read on »

How’s your beauty conscience? Clean your face (and your slate!) with Oriflame this Fairtrade Fortnight!

Oriflame Eco Beauty Smoothing Day Cream Eye Cream

Did you know that yesterday saw the start of Fairtrade Fortnight, 25th February to 10th March? If you’re anything like me (a normal person then yeah?) when you think of Fairtrade, you think (rightly or wrongly) of higher prices on the shelves next to “regular” goods, and that well off guy who drives a Prius; he probably buys Fairtrade EVERYTHING to go with his zen garden and sense of smugness. It’s far from the Celtic Tiger we are now, and it’s hard enough to get food in our own children’s mouths never mind having to feed the black babies too, eh? Well missus, I’m here to show you can totally incorporate Fairtrade into your daily life, and then you can swan around just as smug as that Prius driving gombeen. First up in our “Ethical Beauty” feature line up, I present to you Oriflame’s Smoothing Day Cream and Eye Cream.

L’amour All Night Long with Lush!

Lush The Kiss Lip Gloss From Dusk Till Dawn Massage Bar

Is anyone in the mood for lurve? Or are we all a bit bah humbug about the Hallmark holiday? To be honest, even though it is a totally commercial day, Valentine’s does have its uses – it can make you look at your relationship with appreciation, or identify the flaws and cracks within. So I for one welcome the phoney celebration as sort of a relationship NCT/MOT if you will. If nothing else, having the above goodies land on my desk it made me realise it’s been far too long since me and my other half indulged in some massage therapy. So last night, after a lovely meal, we went at it with gusto. Hush you dirtburds! Read on »

Can we fix it? Yes FIMO can! The lazy girl’s guide to fixing manicure mishaps, feat OPI Thanks a Windmillion

OPI Thanks A Windmillion Fimo Canes NOTD

Ladies, I admit it, I have the attention span of a gnat. Is it any wonder when we live in this information age with phones, sms, email, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Foursquare, never mind just plain ol’ websites and forums. Not two minutes goes by between notifications on my phone, tablet or computer and my focus is constantly darting about. It’s hard enough for me to concentrate enough on actually executing a manicure with precision (not touching the cuticles is like the grown woman’s version of not colouring outside the lines…) and I have to wait for it to dry too?! You could give me all the speed dry topcoat in China and I’d still manage to smudge it somehow. It doesn’t help that I like to paint my nails in the wee hours, in the dark, just before bed. That’s how I roll. The day Ciate release a “Duvet Imprint Effect” manicure I’ll be laughing.  Read on »
