Blackboard Nails – A Chalkboard Manicure on the Cheap!

Blackboard Nails Matte Topcoat Ciate Chalkboard Manicure

Ever since the Caviar manicure, Ciate have been challenging us to take on textured talons. Most of their trends have required special kits, implements and ingredients to achieve the desired effect, sold at a considerable price for what’s essentially a fad. That is, until now. Ladies, I propose that you have everything you need to take on the latest trend right in your own polish stash. Let me present, Blackboard Nails, a Chalkboard Manicure on the cheap! Read on »

Clear acryilic makeup organisation when you’re not near a Muji… Aka. Stash pr0n!

Makeup Storage Organisation Acrylic Muji

Here it is ladies, where it all happens. I should note at this point, and inspired by today’s post from Like Mam Used to Bake, it nearly never looks like this. In fact it only looks this good about once a week when I tidy it up. Here’s how it usually looks. So anyway, I do love me a good post on makeup organisation. And given my ever expanding stash I reckoned it was about time I shared my own. However, not living close to a Muji, and not really willing to part with huge wads of cash for a Clear Cube system, I used my ingenuity to find a pocket friendly acrylic system in the wilds of Carlow. Meaning I trawled the local home furnishing stores until I struck gold. May I present my clear acrylic makeup storage system, by courtesy of Homebase, Home Store and More and Eason’s! Read on »

Git some grit! Barry M take on the Textured Nail Trend

Barry M Textured Nail Effects Review Swatches

Barry M have jumped on the textured nail bandwagon, with this suspiciously similar range to Nails Inc’s “Concrete” offering, right down to the British street names. Though we do love a good budget dupe round these parts, especially with fad/trend items, so who am I to complain! I picked these up in Superdrug across the border on special offer 2 for £6.00, so they were especially bargainous compared to Nails Inc’s £12.00 per bottle (yeowch!). Read on »

Going Balmy for Revlon’s new Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. And a GIVEAWAY!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Giveaway

I picked up a quartet of the new Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains on the day of their release (that dedicated am I), in the only available shades at the time 001 Honey, 015 Cherish, 020 Lovesick and 040 Rendezvous. I believe some other shades have been launched since, and you’d better believe I’ll be going back for them.  TL;DR I am LOV. ING. THESE. I don’t think I’ve been using any other lip products for the past month (aside from Lush’s awesome new lip colour), and for a fickle beauty blogger that says a lot. For the details and a GIVEAWAY keep reading. Read on »

With these amazing Stay All Day Cream Eyeshadows, I’ve only got eyes for Essence!

I don’t really use cream eyeshadows much, I’m more of an Urban Decay Primer Potion + powder shadow kinda girl. Even so, when I did a spring clean of my stash recently I was horrified to find that my “just in case” stockpile of Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows had completely dried out. They were like rocks: unusable, unsalvageable. I was even more horrified when I remembered how much those babies had cost me: 20 quid each x 5 = one sad Kat! In the bin they went, and I resolved to that I would no longer buy stuff that I wouldn’t use, especially not expensive stuff that doesn’t keep. Read on »

Splurge or Steal? Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer vs Laura Mercier Undercover

So I was browsing Boots lately and came across the new Soap and Glory cosmetics stand (which has replaced the Prestige stand, meaning I can no longer buy my favourite Skin Loving Minerals foundation, boo!). While checking out the new offerings (very impressive and haul worthy) my eyes alighted upon their concealer duo, which seemed to have borrowed more than a trick or two from my Holy Grail Laura Mercier Undercover. Of course, like a good beauty blogger, I brought it home to investigate. Here’s Kick Ass Concealer in the shade light in all its (soap and) glory. Read on »
