Dry Skin Creams for Pregnancy with La Roche Posay & Palmers!

la roche posay lipikar ap palmers cocoa stretch mark cream

I am five months into my pregnancy now and I can tell you that those five months have certainly taken their toll on my skin! The thoughts of stretch-marks doesn’t  bother me to be honest; they are just little reminders of how awesome a womans body can be. My beef is with the dry, itchy flakey skin that appeared out of nowhere along with the nice case of bacne thrown in for good measure.Every part of me itched and I had huge boils on my already itchy, scaly back. I was starting to feel thoroughly miserable until two creams came to my rescue……. Read on »

New from Vichy – Normaderm Hyaluspot and Nutriextra Hands – tried, tested and loved!

Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot NutriExtra Hands

I would be lying if I said I didn’t hold skincare stalwart Vichy in high regard. The brand knows skincare, and backed by the L’Oreal giant (love them or hate them) they have megabucks to invest in research and development. This results in them producing products with great scientific credentials, which in my experience really work. So, even though I’m definitely biased in Vichy’s favour, to counter that I have high expectations when I try their new product releases. Recently I popped to my local Sam McCauley’s to pick up two newbie products which I badly needed – Normaderm Hyaluspot for my oily, acne prone skin and Nutriextra Hands for my parched lámha. It’s typical that I have an oil rig on my mug and sahara hands. First world problems eh? Read on »

The Wearing of the Green: Colour Correction for Skin Redness & Blemishes

The Wearing Of The Green Colour Correction Redness Blemishes

I thought this post was rather timely given the week that’s in it, and the fact that the BITTER cold is sure to be nipping at everyone’s noses. Like seriously, when’s the last Paddy’s Day when we had to worry about snow? And we thought rain was bad enough! But I digress… I myself am unfortunately very prone to the “Irish” affliction, that is the glowing nose. Rudolf’s got nothing on me. Alcoholic or not, most of us will be lucky to escape the cold snap with our skintone intact. Add acne to the mix and a milk-bottle Irish complexion turns rather more sour. Thankfully over the years I have perfected my redness covering techniques, so without further ado let me introduce my arsenal. Read on »

How’s your beauty conscience? Clean your face (and your slate!) with Oriflame this Fairtrade Fortnight!

Oriflame Eco Beauty Smoothing Day Cream Eye Cream

Did you know that yesterday saw the start of Fairtrade Fortnight, 25th February to 10th March? If you’re anything like me (a normal person then yeah?) when you think of Fairtrade, you think (rightly or wrongly) of higher prices on the shelves next to “regular” goods, and that well off guy who drives a Prius; he probably buys Fairtrade EVERYTHING to go with his zen garden and sense of smugness. It’s far from the Celtic Tiger we are now, and it’s hard enough to get food in our own children’s mouths never mind having to feed the black babies too, eh? Well missus, I’m here to show you can totally incorporate Fairtrade into your daily life, and then you can swan around just as smug as that Prius driving gombeen. First up in our “Ethical Beauty” feature line up, I present to you Oriflame’s Smoothing Day Cream and Eye Cream.

Myself and Kat love Roger & Gallet long-time and we both let out a mahoosive SQUEEE when we arrived into work yesterday morning to find a selection of their new travel sized fragrances! Between the two of us we own every fragrance in the collection already; Kat has a penchant for Gingembre whilst I find it hard to choose between Bois D’Orange and Rose Imaginaire.  Read on »

Cymex Cream – A well kept secret

I am forever picking up bits and pieces here and there and then totally forgetting to post about them. Yesterday on the twitter machine LikeMamUsedToBake put out a request for beauty bloggers to help her find something for her dry, flaky lips. Her request instantly reminded me of two things that could help: 1) Bepanthen, which I did a post on here and 2) Cymex, a little miracle worker in a tube that I had forget to tell you all about!  Read on »

Vichy Idealia

This review has been a long time in the making mainly due to the fact I was afraid to sing the products praises prematurely; usually with skincare I use a product, love it and then it unceremoniously fails me. Not so with this line; in fact  it is hand on heart one of my favourite new skincare launches of 2012!

So what is it I hear you ask? It’s the new Vichy Idealia skincare line, launched this month in Ireland in pharmacies nationwide and currently compromising Idealia Pro €34.50 an “ideal skin creator” (a dark spot correcter serum in essence)  and the Idealia Smoothing & Illuminating day cream €26.00.

Vichy undertook an unprecedented research study and interviewed 200 women, from four continents, across four ethnic groups (Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian and Afro-America), aged between 20-60 years.  They were asked about their routine and behaviours, their feelings and thoughts about their skin. Their aspiration? – A perfect skin quality.
