For the blondes amongst you I am sure you all face the struggle to keep your locks more like the lady from the Timotei ad rather than Lisa Simpsons spiky yellow tresses. The battle against the yellow (or brassiness) is something all blonde ladies struggle with; you can’t just use any supermarket brand and hope for the best. Blonde hair is a big old pain in the arse to care for; but when done well nothing beats it! (For the record after years and years of being Peroxide I have now stepped over to the dark side; well the light brown side to be precise).

Doesn’t leave the hair sticky, its easy to brush out and it provides great hold! Watch this space for a full review on it. As you can tell from my reviews the twice a week shampoo didn’t cut the mustard for me but the dry shampoo is excellent.I currently have another blonde haired guinea pig putting the rest of the range to the test and will report back in due course. It’s actually been a fair few months since I dyed my hair light brown/dark blonde but I just never got around to posting about it until now. My hair is a natural dark blonde and I had been dying it a more peroxide shade for a few years now but due to the cost and the constant upkeep I decided enough was enough. I asked my hairdresser to help me go from bleached blonde to light brown with an ombre effect but she didn’t agree that it was a good idea so I threw caution to the wind and took a stab at it myself. Lifesaver in a bottle
Technically this product is suitable for any hair in distress but I felt I had to include it as it came to my rescue when I had a particularly disastrous home dye situation.
A couple of years back I did the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my entire life. I dyed my hair brown, by myself, at home. I looked completely ridiculous and after a month decided enough was enough and wanted to go back blonde. So I bought a random blonde home dye in the local supermarket and Mam set to work restoring my hair back to its former glory. Pro:Voke Touch of Silver Shampoo
I had high hopes for this shampoo as I am a massive fan of their dry shampoo for blonde hair. Unfortunately this product is one you are best off avoiding. Its the first budget purple shampoo that I have tried and I am genuinely unimpressed. I used it four times in the interest of fairness but each time my hair was left a dry, knotty mess and that was after intensively conditioning my hair AND adding an argan oil styling product. I even tried diluting the shampoo with a regular shampoo but my hair was still left extremely dry. As a result I actually broke some of my hair trying to brush it. Major fail. Read on »

I decided to do a series of posts on the best and worst purple shampoos and products for blonde hair on the market as being a bleach blonde is hard work and expensive! I think everyone with blonde hair or highlights should have a bottle of purple shampoo in the shower as it really takes the brassiness out of blonde hair.
