Some of you may be horrified to read this but…. I only wash my hair once a week and now thanks to Joico dry shampoo I am getting nearly 8-9 days out of it! Now please don’t confuse washing the hair with washing oneself; I am not a total stinkbag and do wash myself every day. I swear! Read on »
For the blondes amongst you I am sure you all face the struggle to keep your locks more like the lady from the Timotei ad rather than Lisa Simpsons spiky yellow tresses. The battle against the yellow (or brassiness) is something all blonde ladies struggle with; you can’t just use any supermarket brand and hope for the best. Blonde hair is a big old pain in the arse to care for; but when done well nothing beats it! (For the record after years and years of being Peroxide I have now stepped over to the dark side; well the light brown side to be precise).
So you blonde lovelies, I bring you the cheap and cheerful range from Provoke, Touch of Silver, with a product to suit most needs! I have reviewed some of the range already; please do check out my take on the Shampoo and on the Dry shampoo.I’m currently using the Glamour Hairspray and I love it! Doesn’t leave the hair sticky, its easy to brush out and it provides great hold! Watch this space for a full review on it. As you can tell from my reviews the twice a week shampoo didn’t cut the mustard for me but the dry shampoo is excellent.I currently have another blonde haired guinea pig putting the rest of the range to the test and will report back in due course. In the meantime the folk over at Provoke have put together a handy guide to keep the yellow at bay, Hurrah! Check it out below. Read on »
It’s actually been a fair few months since I dyed my hair light brown/dark blonde but I just never got around to posting about it until now. My hair is a natural dark blonde and I had been dying it a more peroxide shade for a few years now but due to the cost and the constant upkeep I decided enough was enough. I asked my hairdresser to help me go from bleached blonde to light brown with an ombre effect but she didn’t agree that it was a good idea so I threw caution to the wind and took a stab at it myself. An advert for L’Oreal Superior Preference Hair Color came on TV the other day and himself said to be me, “Sure would you not get yourself a box of that for your hair? It would save you a fortune in hairdressers!”
If only it were that easy, right? I can really imagine Gwen Stefani getting Gavin to mind the kids of a Friday evening while she breaks her back over the bath doing her home dye… Read on »
Technically this product is suitable for any hair in distress but I felt I had to include it as it came to my rescue when I had a particularly disastrous home dye situation.
A couple of years back I did the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my entire life. I dyed my hair brown, by myself, at home. I looked completely ridiculous and after a month decided enough was enough and wanted to go back blonde. So I bought a random blonde home dye in the local supermarket and Mam set to work restoring my hair back to its former glory. Except, my hair wasn’t restored to its former glory; quite the opposite in fact. Read on »
I had high hopes for this shampoo as I am a massive fan of their dry shampoo for blonde hair. Unfortunately this product is one you are best off avoiding. Its the first budget purple shampoo that I have tried and I am genuinely unimpressed. I used it four times in the interest of fairness but each time my hair was left a dry, knotty mess and that was after intensively conditioning my hair AND adding an argan oil styling product. I even tried diluting the shampoo with a regular shampoo but my hair was still left extremely dry. As a result I actually broke some of my hair trying to brush it. Major fail. Read on »
This is my second shampoo review for the Best In Blonde series! And its a good ‘un. Read on »
I decided to do a series of posts on the best and worst purple shampoos and products for blonde hair on the market as being a bleach blonde is hard work and expensive! I think everyone with blonde hair or highlights should have a bottle of purple shampoo in the shower as it really takes the brassiness out of blonde hair. There is nothing worse than having that horrible Yellow Hair. I have The Fear of it altogether. Read on »
