I’m nearly four months pregnant now and my tummy is starting to take on a more rounded, bloated look. After a huge roast dinner last week I commented to himself that my belly button was feeling a bit tight/odd; “that will be your belly button beginning to pop out” says himself. I recoiled in sheer horror. Outie belly buttons CREEP me the hell out. They are disgusting; some people don’t like feet, Me, I just don’t like belly buttons. Innies don’t freak me out as much but outies are just wrong. I am truly sorry if my weird fear of outies offends anyone but argh, when himself said he was full sure that pregnant ladies always end up with outies I nearly fainted on the spot. Read on »
We’ve had a little bunny emergency in Dolly HQ. My lovely Einstein fell ill which necessitated a rushed trip to the vet (Baribre O’Malley in Bray, best rabbit vet in Ireland), syringe feeding and minding. In all the madness I haven’t had the wits about me to think of an original post topic, so I’m shamelessly ripping-off taking inspiration from Lynnie of Beaut.ie. Ein is doing well now and on the road to recovery thankfully!
My name is Kat, and I’m a polish-aholic. It’s been two days since my last polish purchase. Read on »
I woke up this morning to Ian Dempsey chirpily proclaiming that today is Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year, so this post is rather timely! I don’t know about you, but for me the months from January to March are usually the bleakest of the year. We’re still in the grips of Winter (I refuse to start calling it Spring in February, coz it’s not. Wintring I’ll concede to) trudging out in the dark and back in the dark, and there’s nothing on the horizon but a long stretch of uninterrupted work, and lent. Woe. I’ve learned to cope with the bleakness a few different ways. Read on »
We’re delighra and excira to be invited to chat at the Christmas Blogger Meet-up this Saturday, organised by the awesome Sarah of Adoreabubbles. We’ll be in esteemed company, talking alongside Emma of Fluff and Fripperies (winner of Best Beauty Blog at Blog Awards Ireland!) and Elaine of Misse Blog (web designer extraordinaire). Given that a lot of our interests overlap with these lovely ladies, we’ve been wondering what we can bring to the table. So we want to know what YOU want to know about blogging, beauty and us! It’s amazing how smells can be so evocative. Catching a whiff of a roast in the oven, or a certain aftershave can transport you right back to Sunday dinners with family, or a love long lost. Some are comforting like the former, and some not so (perhaps the latter?)! The old-world scents of Oil of Olay (or Ulay as it was back then, in the pink bottle) and Max Factor Crème Puff teleport me back to my nan’s house as she “put on her face” in the mornings.
Needless to say, I’m rather olfactorily biased and I just ADORE a product with a divine scent. While my head can totally appreciate a product with a non-descript scent that works wonders, my heart is won by the fragrance. Since I post from my head far too much, this post is devoted to those gorgeous smellies which have a place in my heart. Read on »
I was so excited when the press release for the Green Tea Roger & Gallet offerings landed in my inbox that I let out a “Yay!” at my desk. I have been an ardent fan of Elizabeth Arden Green Tea for years and to be honest any other green tea range I have tried didn’t come close to EA’s offering. Until now, kinda of. Read on »
Is it just me, or does it seem that the generation of women before us are politely withholding the reality of getting older? Lately, as I’m moving further and further past the wrong side of 25, I’ve been catching little snatches of the things that await me as I grow more womanly. None of which any of the older females in my life have shared with me. Is this a conspiracy? Or a rite of passage before you get to join the “Woman Club”? Here’s my top 5 things your mam probably didn’t tell you, or at least my mam sure as hell didn’t! Read on »
I HEART Lush and you won’t see me making any apologies for it! I was super excited to see a press release drop into my inbox this week from the brand’s lovely PR lady; the Lush Compounders are en route to Dublin this week and everyone is invited! Yee haw! Read on »
This is going to be a long post, but it raises important points that any Hellocotton users should really take into consideration. If you don’t have the time to read right now, please come back later. And feel free to ask me any questions you like!
Hello (Kitty) Cotton (Candy)!
In Dolly Rouge land we’ve been thinking long and hard about whether or not we should join the Hellocotton party. It seems to be where all the cool kids are hanging out these days and it’s definitely an engaging way to follow and share blogs. So it should be a no-brainer right? Not quite, as unfortunately you can never judge a book (or should I say blog aggregator) by its cover. Myself and my software engineer boyfriend have cast a critical eye over the way Hellocotton do things, here’s our thoughts based on the information to hand. Read on »
