New from Vichy – Normaderm Hyaluspot and Nutriextra Hands – tried, tested and loved!

Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot NutriExtra Hands

I would be lying if I said I didn’t hold skincare stalwart Vichy in high regard. The brand knows skincare, and backed by the L’Oreal giant (love them or hate them) they have megabucks to invest in research and development. This results in them producing products with great scientific credentials, which in my experience really work. So, even though I’m definitely biased in Vichy’s favour, to counter that I have high expectations when I try their new product releases. Recently I popped to my local Sam McCauley’s to pick up two newbie products which I badly needed – Normaderm Hyaluspot for my oily, acne prone skin and Nutriextra Hands for my parched lámha. It’s typical that I have an oil rig on my mug and sahara hands. First world problems eh? Read on »

This is a post for all you last minute Larrys out there. Vichy Idealia

This review has been a long time in the making mainly due to the fact I was afraid to sing the products praises prematurely; usually with skincare I use a product, love it and then it unceremoniously fails me. Not so with this line; in fact  it is hand on heart one of my favourite new skincare launches of 2012!

So what is it I hear you ask? It’s the new Vichy Idealia skincare line, launched this month in Ireland in pharmacies nationwide and currently compromising Idealia Pro €34.50 an “ideal skin creator” (a dark spot correcter serum in essence)  and the Idealia Smoothing & Illuminating day cream €26.00.

Vichy undertook an unprecedented research study and interviewed 200 women, from four continents, across four ethnic groups (Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian and Afro-America), aged between 20-60 years.  They were asked about their routine and behaviours, their feelings and thoughts about their skin. Their aspiration? – A perfect skin quality.

Vichy Capital Soleil Gentle Milk for Children SPF50+

In a slight deviation from our usual target audience today I bring you some tips for keeping the kiddies safe in the sun. Might not be much use with the summer we’ve been having, but if you are heading off to the sun these tips I received recently from Vichy should come in handy.

First up it goes without saying that you really shouldn’t be using anything less than SPF50 for the kiddies, even in the Irish sun. There are sun-creams out there to suit every budget so you have no excuse not to keep your VIPs adequately protected! After all children’s skin is much more sensitive to UV rays than adult skin, even in the cloudy Irish weather the rays can still get through.

A new one on the market is Vichy Capital Soleil Gentle Milk SPF50+  which is specifically designed for children.  Free from parabens, colorants and fragrances, it is also formulated to be waterproof and not to sting eyes – a must with young kiddies as they are forever touching their faces. It contains a reinforced filter system made up of a combination of filters including Mexorul SX-XL at optimized dosages to reinforce protection and provide efficacy against longwave UVA. 100ml will set you back €18.50. All in all its a pretty decent product; my friend has been using it on her toddlers and likes it a lot.

Fine line between shiny and dewy: Normaderm Total Mat is here to help!

There is a fine line between having a shiny and a dewy face! Dewiness is usually achieved with the help of a good illuminating product and shininess is usually a horrible side effect of oily skin or sweating. Thankfully Vichy are on the case and have introduced Normaderm Total Mat to keep shine at bay. I am not a huge fan of the Normaderm range in general but I know a lot of combination skinned ladies swear by it. My skin is quite dry but is prone to oiliness in the usual t-zone area so i was delighted to be sent a PR sample of the new Vichy Normaderm Total Mat to try out. It costs €16.00 for a 30 ml tube and applies as a milky gel. Read on »

Vichy LiftActiv Derm Source UV – tried, tested & loved!

Vichy Lift Activ UV

Vichy have long been established in my books as a solid performer in terms of affordability and products that actually work.  My mam on the other hand tends to stick to supermarket brands and I have long been hounding her to try some targeted skin care. When a jar of Vichy LiftActiv Derm Source UV landed on our desks from the fabulous Paula (the brand’s PR) I immediately thought of my mam! Needless to say she was delighted to be our guinea pig! Manly Men Skincare: Can you convert your fellar?

S&G Scrub Your Nose In It, Vichy Aqualia Thermal Eye Roll On & Neutrogena Multi Defence Daily Moisturiser

My other half has for years used shower gel for his entire skincare regime and it’s driven me cracked. It blocks his pores and leaves the skin on his face extremely dry.  I have tried to get him to take a little more notice of his skin by buying various different products aimed at men. Nine times out of ten though I have thrown those products in the bin after being left for months unused. Recently though he hit the big 30 and he has undergone a bit of a realization – he is aging and not as invincible as he once believed. He has given up the cigarettes and generally has turned over a new, healthier leaf! So, never being one to miss an opportunity I reasoned with him that he should start looking after his skin to prevent wrinkles etc., what with him entering his 30′s. Read on »
