I’ve let my hair grow long. I usually keep it in a shoulder length, layered, side fringe style but loving the trend for long luscious waves I’ve let it grow out. I now finally have the length to put some lovely curl and lift into it, but surprise surprise, my hair doesn’t want to cooperate. Read on »
Dolly Rouge’s Best of 2011 – Part 2: Makeup, Nails and Gadgets!
Here we go with our second installment of Dolly Rouge’s 2011 favourites. If you missed it, check out part 1.
La Roche-Posay Teint Mineral is a powder compact. It can be used on its own with a sponge for medium-full coverage (oily or combo-skinned ladies), dusted with a powder brush to set foundation, or provide more coverage over sheer foundations (combo-normal skins). It covers redness/imperfections, doesn’t look powdery, doesn’t oxidise, doesn’t budge when faced with oil, doesn’t clog pores and has SPF 25. Consider that all boxes ticked for me! Read on »
All I want for Christmas is this, this and this, and maybe that, and definitely one of those
Our inbox has been bursting at the seems with all the brands offerings for Christmas but rather than do a whole series of Christmas offerings we decided to just bring you what’s on each of our lists beauty wise! We would be here forever and a day otherwise and in fairness we are a bit late to the game on the ‘oul Christmas front; most blogs had the low-down on Christmas months back!
First up is something I’m hoping my other half Rob takes note of. If you’re not Rob but you know him please kindly mention this post to him! I’ll be eternally grateful! It’s the Gorilla Perfumers at Lush set of Exclusive Mini Perfumes containing eight wonderfully named scents including: Ladyboy, 1000 Kisses and The Smell of Weather Turning amongst others. I really need this in my life.

My hair is quite strange. The strands are thick and smooth. So much so that my hair doesn’t require any styling to fall straight and sleek, it dries naturally that way. The ends don’t split either, even though I haven’t had a trim in over 6 months (naughty me I know!). Before you curse me, the downside is that my hair never holds a style and as for a curl, only in my dreams. Also, even though the hair strands are individually thick, my hair sheds like bejaysus. It doesn’t make much sense for my body to invest so much building lushious strands for it to throw them away carelessly, but I digress. Because of its dog-like shedding the overall effect of my hair is quite limp, so I turn to a few different products to give it a much needed boost. Here are my fine feathered haired friends:

James Brown Volume Boost Shampoo and Conditioner
James Brown is hair stylist to Kate Moss, who has rather fine hair herself. His Volume Boost shampoo and conditioner contain rice proteins and oat extracts, which should apparently add volume and thickness without weighing fine hair down. Do they work? Read on »
The Rouge Review: 16th October 2011
So our Irish Summer arrived in October; who’d a thunk it? Not me that’s for sure. The past few weeks have been unseasonably warm and I tell you I’m actually longing for the colder weather so at least I know what to wear! Its been a quiet week in Dolly HQ but here is a quick round-up of what we were chatting about on the blog Read on »
Rachelle’s September Favourite: Babyliss Big Hair
Yes, you read that right; this month one beauty purchase stood heads and tails above all the other bits n bobs I picked up. I’m a bit late to the game on this one but better late than never! It’s the Babyliss Big Hair. I have been hemming and hawing over purchasing this product for literally months. I first heard about it when Lynnie over on Beaut.ie wrote about it. I watched countless YouTube tutorials and read plenty of reviews yet I still couldn’t bring myself to part with the cash. Usually hair appliances let me down big time. The GHD was a massive fail for me as it really just destroys your hair over time. Anyway, as my hair grew longer and harder to manage I decided I would flash the cash and treat myself to one!
