Buh-Bye StrawberryNet hello Irish Sites….Our favourite five Irish online

The last few years has seen an explosion of on-line Irish stores and I for one am glad. Gone are the days of ordering from StrawberryNet and dreading the postman coming with my goodies and a bill for the VAT! Hello to the days were the Irish have finally copped on and started selling their wares on-line. Nowadays there are a plethora of on-line Irish Beauty Stores so there is definitely bargains to be had as competition is FIERCE!  I know a lot of our readers shop on-line so I thought I would do a quick post on our favourite five on-line Irish stores. Vichy Capital Soleil Gentle Milk for Children SPF50+

In a slight deviation from our usual target audience today I bring you some tips for keeping the kiddies safe in the sun. Might not be much use with the summer we’ve been having, but if you are heading off to the sun these tips I received recently from Vichy should come in handy.

First up it goes without saying that you really shouldn’t be using anything less than SPF50 for the kiddies, even in the Irish sun. There are sun-creams out there to suit every budget so you have no excuse not to keep your VIPs adequately protected! After all children’s skin is much more sensitive to UV rays than adult skin, even in the cloudy Irish weather the rays can still get through.

A new one on the market is Vichy Capital Soleil Gentle Milk SPF50+  which is specifically designed for children.  Free from parabens, colorants and fragrances, it is also formulated to be waterproof and not to sting eyes – a must with young kiddies as they are forever touching their faces. It contains a reinforced filter system made up of a combination of filters including Mexorul SX-XL at optimized dosages to reinforce protection and provide efficacy against longwave UVA. 100ml will set you back €18.50. All in all its a pretty decent product; my friend has been using it on her toddlers and likes it a lot.

Cien Suncream – Stay safe in the sun for cheaper

The only thing burning a hole in your pocket this summer will be the money you saved!

I know a lot of people that won’t shop in Lidl or Aldi because they believe that cheap prices equals cheap quality and it drives me round the twist. It is a total bugbear of mine. I am not of the same opinion (obviously!) and tend to shop for items based on quality not the name on the store outside. You can get awesome products in Lidl and crappy products in BTs and vice versa. Its all about keeping your mind open people! *rant over*

An email popped into my inbox this week from Lidl and it was very apt given this week’s temperatures. Not only that, but I have used Lidl suncream for the past few years when abroad and they are excellent value for money. They may take a bit more elbow grease to rub in but for the price I do not mind putting in a little bit of effort.  I suggest recruiting your other half, or a hunky local to do the work for you ;) Read on »
