We needed some R&R!

Purrrrrrrrrfect relaxation!

Myself and Kat have been MIA for a short while; this was mainly due to the fact the both of us were burning the candle at both ends of the wick. A couple of days off and I certainly feel the better for it. Although I do love the world wide web it was nice to turn it off for a few days and spend time with family, friends and Easter eggs! Hellocotton, goodbye traffic? Important food for thought for bloggers using Hellocotton

This is going to be a long post, but it raises important points that any Hellocotton users should really take into consideration. If you don’t have the time to read right now, please come back later. And feel free to ask me any questions you like!

Hello (Kitty) Cotton (Candy)!

In Dolly Rouge land we’ve been thinking long and hard about whether or not we should join the Hellocotton party. It seems to be where all the cool kids are hanging out these days and it’s definitely an engaging way to follow and share blogs. So it should be a no-brainer right? Not quite, as unfortunately you can never judge a book (or should I say blog aggregator) by its cover. Myself and my software engineer boyfriend have cast a critical eye over the way Hellocotton do things, here’s our thoughts based on the information to hand. Read on »

Kiss i-envy 16hr Eyelash Adhesive – A Review & A Caution!

Kiss i-envy 16hr Eyelash Adhesive

I wrote about this product before when reviewing some eyelashes I had bought on E-bay; you can read that review here. What made me want to revisit this product is that I have recently noticed a very alarming effect; it’s kind of making my lashes fall out! It’s not the ingredients that is causing it however but it may well have something to do with the fact that the product does exactly what it says on the tin….. and then some! Read on »

Gwen Stefani Uses L’Oréal Superior Preference Hair & Pigs May Fly…

L'Oreal Superior Preference Hair Color

An advert for L’Oreal Superior Preference Hair Color came on TV the other day and himself said to be me,  “Sure would you not get yourself a box of that for your hair? It would save you a fortune in hairdressers!”

If only it were that easy, right? I can really imagine Gwen Stefani getting Gavin to mind the kids of a Friday evening while she breaks her back over the bath doing her home dye… Read on »

Ask the Audience: Animal testing for cosmetics, where do you stand?

No animals were harmed in the making of this post, no matter what Melodramatic Bun says.

I’m a bit of a fence-sitter when it comes to many topics. I can see both sides of an argument clearly, and will neither lean one way nor the other when the evidence on both sides is equally weighty. I’m agnositc, I have no political affiliations and I don’t have a favourite soccer team. However, as the mum of three beautiful, innocent little bunnies, can you guess where I sit on the issue of testing cosmetics on animals? Read on »

I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For

I  still haven’t found what I’m looking for in terms of a decent hairdresser. Its a sad state of affairs really. I’m 28 and I don’t have a regular hairdresser or, that said, a hairdresser that I trust!

When I moved from Dublin 8 years ago my regular hairdresser in Toni and Guy Dame Street was also leaving for pastures new and I have been on the hunt ever since. I did have my hair super short and bleached for a long time so my need for a decent hairdresser wasnt as pressing as it is now that my hair is longer.

I am sick of hairdressers saying that I can’t dye my blonde hair brown or that there is so much bleach in my hair it will fall out (it won’t and it’s not “full” of bleach!).  Or to buy this treatment and that treatment  even though I can get the exact same treatments on-line for a good bit cheaper!

Beauty and the BUDGET. Will Budget 2012 wreak havoc on your beauty regime?

MwahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaA little artistic licence used with pictures from The Journal and The Irish Times

Times are tough. The government will be taking even more money out of our pockets in 2012 than ever before, with likely increases in VAT, road tax, petrol tax, never mind the new household tax and water charges. I understand that the country is in a hole, but what did your average citizen have to do with it? The majority of us have bills coming out of our ears: mortgage/rent, electricity, gas, oil, TV licence, internet, phone, health insurance, house insurance, life assurance, pensions, car insurance, car tax, petrol, savings, food… Boy do I miss living at home with my parents. My heart especially goes out to anyone who has children. Read on »

Ranty Pants: Boudoir Prive, Vinies Veda and Maskgate

Oooh, I do love a good pair of ranty pants, and these ones fit me well.

I was blog browsing earlier today and a post from the awesome Beauty Geek UK piqued my interest. It seems that quite a few people who received this month’s Boudoir Prive box had an unusual reaction to one of the samples supplied, Vinies Luminous Skin Mask by Vinies Veda.

Due to the number of complaints received, Boudoir Prive released a statement by Vinies Veda on their Facebook page. The comments on this statement make for grim reading, with commenters experiencing redness, irritation, itchiness and heat for hours in many cases, up to two days in one case. Read on »
