The folks over at Hession Hairdressing have put together some handy hints on how to achieve Giuliana Rancic’s new and improved hairstyle so I said I would share it with you lot today. My guilty pleasure is watching reality tv shows and I absolutely love Giuliana and Bill’s show! I can’t wait for the new series to start where we will finally get to see the arrival of their new baby! EEEEEEEEK!
In hair news Giuliana’s finally ditched the lighter tones and gone for an all over darker tint and I am liking it a lot! We asked Paul Hession of Hession Hairdressing Drumcondra and Clontarf how to recreate this red carpet look for the new season and new you!
If, like Giuliana, you are ready to leave your balayage days behind you, consider doing as Giuliana did and cut the colour out. Not only will you be relieving your hair of dry, split ends, you will be adding another dimension to your new look and bringing right up to date because shoulder length, glossy, rich brown hair is the way to go this season. Just look at Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton! This look is really easy to achieve and maintain with the help of a good hair stylist – a perfect, hassle free look for new mum and busy presenter Giuliana.
Make an appointment at your local salon and have a thorough consultation with your hairdresser. A trained and qualified colourist and stylist will help you to choose the right shade of brown for you. Be it dark or light, cool or warm there is a shade out there for everyone. Your colourist will then assess your hair and decide if a toner or pre colour is required before applying the brown. This is a really important step when colouring over old hair colour so we really recommend a salon visit as opposed to a DIY job at home. Once the colour has been applied and washed out, ask for a conditioning treatment to be applied to help you on your way to gorgeous glossy locks. The next step is to perfect the cut. They key to Giuliana’s look (and Kim and Kate’s) is a simple, straight cut with a few light, graduated layers throughout the front and sides. Part your hair in the way you feel best suits your face but don’t be afraid to experiment and ask your stylist to try parting it in a different way or adding in a fringe if you want to put your own individual stamp on the look.
Once you’ve stepped out of the salon with your new brunette do all that’s left to do is show it off but first, here are a few tips for keeping your hair looking salon fresh. At home, use a colour protecting and radiance enhancing shampoo and conditioner such as Kerastasé Bain Chroma Captive Shampoo (€20.50) Lait Chroma Reflect Rinse-Out Milk (€27.50). These long lasting products work to provide nourishment, add depth and radiate shine. It is also worth investing in a good deep conditioning hair masque such as Kerastasé Reflection Chroma Riche Masque (€35.30). Apply the masque every 2 weeks or as necessary to keep your hair in tip top condition. Finally, make sure to visit your salon regularly for a trim to keep the look neat and polished just like Giuliana and co!
So guys what do you think? Will you be ditching the blonde this winter? Hands up who already goes to Hession?
