Clarins Men Exfoliating Cleanser 2-in-1: Dolly Rouge man approves!

New from Clarins and on counters now is a must have 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser for your male folk. My other half has just this year given in to my incessant pandering and started using some decent skincare products, so he was happy enough to try this one out for us also.

The Exfoliating Cleanser comes in a rather fetching blue squeezy tube and you get 125ml of product. Expect to pay anywhere between €22.00 to €25.00 for it depending on where purchased. My recommendation would be to get to know your local Clarins counter ladies; that way you can stock up on some samples when making a purchase etc.

This hard working cream aims to both cleanse, purify and exfoliate. Soapwort root extract cleanses the skin and the addition of zinc helps to control sebum; good news for any oily skinned men. Salicylic acid also features in this wash which gives the cream its exfoliating property. Natural lava powder also features which helps to lift dirt from the pores and to smooth the skin.

The verdict: Himself has been using and liking this a lot! He hasn’t a notion of how to go about describing his experience with beauty products (and in fairness his friends would slag him off) so the best I could pull from him is that it makes his skin clean, soft and doesn’t dry it out! I was happy enough with that to be fair! He also said a little goes a long way and it didn’t sting his eyes which is high praise indeed from the man of few words.

I had a sneaky go of this myself and noted the following: 1) It has a very earthy/clay smell to it that is not overpowering and really rather pleasant. 2) It did feel quite “heavy duty”; a fact I liked. Men’s products are generally pretty terrible (I’m making squinty eyes at L’Oreal Men Expert here) but this product really does seem to cater for men’s coarser facial skin. 3) His pores looked noticeably smaller after using this (but please don’t tell him I said that, I’m full sure he didn’t realise he had large pores in the first place!) Nice work Clarins!
