Rose (of Tralee) Inspired Beauty!

It’s that time of year again folks; the event all of us have been waiting for, second only to the near hysteria the Eurovision and Jedward brought us. Yes, it’s Rose of Tralee time again; more commonly known as the Lovely Girls competition by many of us reared on Father Ted. This will be Daithi’s first year presenting as a married man and I wonder what gaieties he has in store this time around? I can barely contain my excitement ;)

Spurred on by a few press releases that landed in my inbox I decided to put together a selection of products for your perusal; all rose inspired of course! Now I know rose is not for everyone but there are some of you that like a bit of old fashioned rose scented glamour; and there ain’t nothing wrong with that!  Rosehip (which is the fruit of the rose plant) has also enjoyed some popularity recently due to its anti scar and anti wrinkle properties. So feast your eyes below my lovelies.

  1.  First up we have the infamous Trilogy Rosehip Oil which is a HG Product for many ladies. Me and Trilogy don’t seem to get on no matter what products I use, but I know a lot of you swear by it hence the inclusion. It contains 80% essential fatty acids, vitamin E and the antioxidant lycopene; all well known for their ability to promote skin repair and rejuvenation of skin cells. A 20ml bottle will set you back 19.95 of your finest euro bucks.
  2. Next up is an oldie but a goldie as my nan would say! Vasline Lip Therapy ”Rosy Lips”. A cute, purse friendly and multi tasking little product. It soothes and lightly tints lips and for under a five there is a lot worse you could be putting on your mush.
  3. One of my “love you long-time” brands, Roger & Gallet have a fabulous range of rose laden products. Known as the Rose Collection (catchy name, wha?!) it includes soaps, floral water, a body cream and a shower cream. Enriched with the scent of rose and combined with peony and almond milk this is a collection that rose lovers will not want to miss. Prices range from €13.75 to €39.75
  4. Last but not least is the cutest little collection of Cath Kidston handcreams. You get three floral scented creams in the gift set and having tried them myself I can confirm there the rose one smells like a bouquet of fresh cut roses! Nicely moisturising too. Be warned though ladies; these handcreams pack a weighty punch with their scent so they are not for the faint hearted. You can pick up a set from www.millies.ie for a mere €9.14

See anything that takes your fancy? Floral fragrances not your thing? Let us know in the comments.

I still watch the Rose of Tralee every year even though it’s gone to the stage that I’m watching it on my own! I think it’s just habit! I love that vaseline, have heard lots about the rosehip oil but never tried it x
