Makeup treats on a very tight budget: NYC 16hr LipStain, Catrice Absolute Eye Colour & Catrice Kohl Kajal

NYC 16hr Lip Stain Smooch Proof Unstoppable Red Catrice 040 Absolute Eye Colour Catrice Kohl Kajal

I’m on a self imposed and a much needed spending ban at the minute; August is a month of loved ones’ birthdays for me and holidays are not far off. That said it can be tiresome watching the pennies so I decided a little treat was in order a couple of weekends ago. My budget was ten euros so I didnt really expect to pick up anything of substance, but boy was I wrong!

I ventured to my local Shaws (the height of sophistimacation in Athy) and hit up the NYC and Catrice stand. Honest to god I think the sales ladies thought I had problems as I stood for nearly an hour swatching and oohing and aaaahing. There was such an awesome choice of colours, textures and finishes that I had a lot of difficulty choosing what to spend my tenner on.

In the end I left with:

  • NYC Smooch Proof 16hr Lip Stain in shade #503 – This costs €3.99 usually but Shaws had 20% off on the day which makes it an even bigger bargain! It smells of alcohol and of strawberry; a strawberry daquiri if you will! I like it. As it’s a tint rather than an actual lipstick I always apply a light coat of lip balm, then apply this. The colour is very summery and buildable. A total bargain!
  • Catrice Kohl Kajal in shade #080 Lucy in the Skies – This is a gorgeously creamy eyeliner with tonnes of colour payoff. One coat gives an almost baby blue effect whilst two gives a Mediterranean sea colour. Delish. It glides on and stays in place. Another bargain as this cost roughly €2.00 and is my pick of the bunch.
  • Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in Palette #040 Never Let Me Go – This ever so subtle sparkly little palette cost me under a fiver and includes four basics that every girl should have in her kit. There is a slightly shimmery gold shade for an all over the eye sheen, a lightly burnt orange for lids, a dark brown for shading and a nice semi matte light brown for an everyday smokey eye. The colours are all gorgeous, apply nicely with little fallout and if you use a primer will last the course of your day. The packaging is also worth a mention; its clear, heavy plastic that is both trendy looking yet sturdy. I have a lot of love for this little palette!

This little haul cheered me right up and I didn’t need to blow a hole in my savings to do so! Sure I can do that on me holibobs ;)
