Mac Strobe Cream Vs Lush Feeling Younger Skin Tint

The internet has been awash of late with news, reviews and swatches of the long awaited Lush line of cosmetics; I was delighted to read about them online and even more chuffed when we received a goody bag full of products to try from Lush. We are still working through the collection and you can expect full reviews once we have put every product through its paces.

One product that did catch my attention immediately was the Feeling Younger Skin Tint and that was because it immediately reminded me of MAC Strobe Cream. They are identical in colour in their respective containers and I just knew I had to do a Versus post! So how did I get on? Read on to find out!

MAC Strobe Cream Facts:

Price: €31.50 50ml

Where can I buy in Ireland? MAC stockists such as Brown Thomas, The Loop Dublin Airport

What is it?  I can’t put it much better than what Mac have to say: “The ultimate quick fix for the skin. Super-powered with potent botanicals; de-snoozes, de-stresses, moistens, freshens and boosts the look of dull, flat or tired-looking skin with a fully loaded vitamin zap and a mega dose of green tea. Brightens and clarifies with iridescent particles and antioxidants. Enhances the effects of light on all skin and in all lighting conditions from sunlight to spotlight”.

Packaging etc: Comes in a nifty squeezy tube and the standard fare black and white packaging synonymous with MAC

My Thoughts on it: I’ve been a MAC Strobe cream fan ever since I read that Alex Gerard mixes it with  Double Wear to get her flawless finish. I had been wearing EL Double Wear foundation for years but as I got older I found it settling in lines and generally not sitting very nicely on my drier face. So after reading the tip from Alex I did the same thing and discovered that Strobe Cream + Double Wear = HG Foundation. That said it is a pricey habit I have gotten myself into  as the double wear costs around the €31.00 euros mark also.

The cream itself is easy to blend, leaves a gorgeous sheen on made up or naked faces and generally adds a healthy glow. You can see from the swatches below that its not an in your face shine; just a subtle illuminating effect. It was hard to capture how lovely this product is in my swatches so I am hoping you can just take my word on it. It smells pleasant enough without assaulting my nostrils, does not cause me any breakouts and I have to say the 50ml tube lasts forever.

Lush Feeling Younger Skin Tint Facts:

Price: €14.50 20g

Where can I buy in Ireland? Lush stores in Dublin, Cork & Belfast

What is it? Take it away Lush: “Feeling Younger contains ‘magic orange’ pigment which works as a reflector on the skin, making it look bright and youthful. You can use it in lots of ways – as a highlighter on the brow bone and eyelid to really open up the eye; on the cheekbone for a youthful glow; under the eye to minimise the appearance of dark circles; or on the décolletage for a sexy shimmer. The words came from Lady Helen’s original list – but we thought everyone likes to feel younger every day – so it didn’t need to go in the wheel”

Packaging: A small glass jar with the usual Lush stickers. I’m not keen on jars to be honest as I hate sticking my finger in things!

My Thoughts on it: Again I have a lot of love for this little pot of brightening cream. It is more suited to targeted spots such as the cupids bow or an eyebrow arch as it has a slightly thicker consistency than the strobe cream but I have blended it with my foundation too and had good results. Its got a more golden sheen to it hence the reason I think it’s better for target areas rather than the whole face. I also mixed into some plain old day moisturiser and the result was fab! My faced looked glowy not shiny and it’s definitely a nice little pot to have in ones stash. Again there was very little smell from this cream and it didn’t cause breakouts.Another million points to LUSH because they never test on animals.

And the winner is……….

Hmmmmmm this one I thought long and hard about. My winner will always be Strobe Cream; I’ve been hooked on it a few years now. That said I’m not sure I could honestly crown it winner because it divides so many people; you either love it or you just don’t see the point of it. The Feeling Younger Skin Tint is a very similar product but gives more of a golden finish.

Conclusion:If you, like me, use and love Strobe Cream then pretend you never read this and keep buying. If you dislike the strobe cream then the Lush skin tint is a lovely product. If you’ve used neither then on price and performance alone I would have to say Lush!

So is everyone now just as confused as me? Great stuff………
