It’s amazing how smells can be so evocative. Catching a whiff of a roast in the oven, or a certain aftershave can transport you right back to Sunday dinners with family, or a love long lost. Some are comforting like the former, and some not so (perhaps the latter?)! The old-world scents of Oil of Olay (or Ulay as it was back then, in the pink bottle) and Max Factor Crème Puff teleport me back to my nan’s house as she “put on her face” in the mornings.
Needless to say, I’m rather olfactorily biased and I just ADORE a product with a divine scent. While my head can totally appreciate a product with a non-descript scent that works wonders, my heart is won by the fragrance. Since I post from my head far too much, this post is devoted to those gorgeous smellies which have a place in my heart.
My favouritest smelling body scrub in the whole wide world has to be Soap and Glory‘s The Breakfast Scrub. The name is rather apt (as well as witty) because I’d totally stick a spoon in this and eat it for my brekkie! The scent is a mouth-watering concoction of maple syrup, honey and banana. It smooths and soothes with sea salt, sugar, oatmeal, cupuacu, shea butter and sweet almond oil. If you ever wanted to feel good enough to eat, this is the product for you!
LEMON! Leeeeeeemooooooon! I’m a total and utter fiend for it. There’s something about the citrus cleanness which is so enlivening, and an added twist of sweetness is even better. Nothing can satiate my lemon cravings like a fresh pot of Lush‘s Lemony Flutter. With gorgeously moisturising butters, oils and lanolin it’s great not only for the senses, but for cuticles, elbows and other dry patches too. NYOM.

Speaking of Lush (a post about lovely scented products just has to be biased towards them I’m afraid!), they have another nyommy product whose scent I just can’t get enough of – The Comforter Bubble Bar. I only have to say one word – Ribena. If that doesn’t take you back to your childhood I don’t know what will!
And last but not least a mention has to go to Pixy and their Lime Scrubber Cubes. These babies are the ultimate “hair of the dog” hangover cure, a mojito for your body. They awaken your dulled senses, while scrubing off the remnants of last night’s fake tan and transgressions. Like a scouring pad for the soul.
I’m noticing a trend here. I seem to be all about the gourmand body products, particularly those of the fruity variety. Well who said beauty blogging couldn’t be illuminating!
What are the things that make YOU go mmm? Are you a floral lady, or a musky madam? Let me know in the comments!
