NOTD: Forget about French Tips, try Irish Tips for the Olympics!
We’re not shy about getting into the spirit of things around these parts (I not once, but twice, had the honour of being the only one who turned up in costume to a work fancy dress competition in two different jobs. I don’t get why people take themselves so seriously, have some fun!). So in honour of Team Ireland‘s efforts in the London 2012 Olympics I’m sporting a French an Irish manicure! You can also adapt this to suit your tricolour of choice – Italy, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands I’m looking at you! Read on »

Its A’kin to Magic: A’kin Pure Alchemy Cellular Radiance Serum
A’kin is a brand I was previously not very familiar with, probably due to the fact it is the brain child of an Australian company, The Purist Company. It was founded in 1997 by cosmetic chemist Will Evans, and its signature products were initially in the haircare field. Since then the company has grown and nowadays they supply a full range of natural skincare products to stockists worldwide; which is a pretty impressive feat considering the company is relatively young. The company prides itself on only using the purest organic botanical ingredients and all their products are free from sulphates, petrochemicals, parabens, propylene glycol, silicones, sulphates DEA, mineral oil and artificial colours and fragrances. The A’kin brand is also suitable for use by vegans and is free from both animal ingredients and animal testing. Read on »
Things that make you go mmm…. What are yours?
It’s amazing how smells can be so evocative. Catching a whiff of a roast in the oven, or a certain aftershave can transport you right back to Sunday dinners with family, or a love long lost. Some are comforting like the former, and some not so (perhaps the latter?)! The old-world scents of Oil of Olay (or Ulay as it was back then, in the pink bottle) and Max Factor Crème Puff teleport me back to my nan’s house as she “put on her face” in the mornings.
Needless to say, I’m rather olfactorily biased and I just ADORE a product with a divine scent. While my head can totally appreciate a product with a non-descript scent that works wonders, my heart is won by the fragrance. Since I post from my head far too much, this post is devoted to those gorgeous smellies which have a place in my heart. Read on »
Garnier Herbashine Light Brown #600 Review
It’s actually been a fair few months since I dyed my hair light brown/dark blonde but I just never got around to posting about it until now. My hair is a natural dark blonde and I had been dying it a more peroxide shade for a few years now but due to the cost and the constant upkeep I decided enough was enough. I asked my hairdresser to help me go from bleached blonde to light brown with an ombre effect but she didn’t agree that it was a good idea so I threw caution to the wind and took a stab at it myself. Garnier Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer – Self Tanning Mousse
Due to my Casper like complexion I do like to mix things up during the warmer weather (albeit the only “slightly warmer than winter” weather). I’m a little bit hesitant to try new fake tans; I truly am a creature of habit when it comes to tan so It was with trepidation that I obliged the kind folks at Garnier who sent me this one to try!
On the business end of things this tan will set you back €21.19 for 150ml but supermarkets and Boots usually have decent offers from week to week, so you may well find it cheaper elsewhere. The tan promises no streaks with simple, easy application. The big selling point on this one is that it boasts a “No Fake Tan Smell” which is a very huge statement to make.
I exfoliated and prepped my skin the morning before use and I applied the mousse using a mitt applicator I picked up in Penneys. How did I fare? Read on »

Roger & Gallet Green Tea Collection
I was so excited when the press release for the Green Tea Roger & Gallet offerings landed in my inbox that I let out a “Yay!” at my desk. I have been an ardent fan of Elizabeth Arden Green Tea for years and to be honest any other green tea range I have tried didn’t come close to EA’s offering. Until now, kinda of. Read on »
