Go Veggie with the Lily Cole Makeup Range at The Body Shop!

The Body Shop shout loud and proud about their ethical credentials – promoting fair trade, sustainability, women’s rights, cruelty-free and most recently vegetarian cosmetics. Isn’t all makeup vegetarian you say, sure there’s no meat in them! Unfortunately many “cruelty-free” cosmetics can still contain animal-derived ingredients such as insect shells (colouring), gelatin (derived from animal connective tissue and bone adding texture, moisture, collagen to products) and animal hair. The new Lily Cole range from The Body Shop is completely free of all animal derived ingredients, making them not only cruelty free but 100% vegetarian. As someone who loves animals more than people sometimes, this makes me very happy.

I was lucky enough to attend the launch of the Lily Cole makeup range, cue pic spam!

The products in the new range include:

  • Lip and Cheek Dome in Pinch me Pink and Crazy for Coral (top right pic) €15
  • Liquid Eyeliner in Violet (middle left and swatched middle right) €13.95
  • Shimmer Cubes eyeshadow quad (bottom left, and used in a wearable smokey eye look bottom right) €24.95

I was delighted to take home a Lip and Cheek Dome in Crazy for Coral to review and I am muchly enamoured with it.  It delivers a gorgeous sheer coral flush, which is great for the pale and interesting, those who prefer barely there makeup, or who tend to be a bit too heavy handed with the blush (a pointed gift for Aunt Sally, maybe?). It’s so handy to toss in your bag for topping up on the run, without needing a mirror for application. You can also use it beneath a coordinating powder blush, to intensify the effect and create a long-lasting look. That ticks all the boxes for me so, it’s love.

This is a limited edition collection, so if you like what you see get yourself down the The Body Shop stat! And keep an eye out for Rachelle’s review of the Pearl Radiance primer which is on the way.

Any thoughts on the new collaboration between Lily Cole and The Body Shop? Are we interested in cosmetics going vegetarian or is it just too much faff? All comments welcome!

I went into the body shop yesterday planning to buy some of this and since the blushes are a budget version kind of of the Shu blushes from the Spring collection I was hell bent on getting one, but the most off putting thing about that shop is the staff, I was so uncomfortable I couldn’t browse or swatch anything & the girl just wouldn’t leave me alone. I have only one item from the body shop makup range I realised yesterday & it’s not because the stuff isn’t nice or I’m not interested in it – it’s the staff just wont let you have a proper gander!!!
