Kiss i-envy 16hr Eyelash Adhesive – A Review & A Caution!

Kiss i-envy 16hr Eyelash Adhesive

I wrote about this product before when reviewing some eyelashes I had bought on E-bay; you can read that review here. What made me want to revisit this product is that I have recently noticed a very alarming effect; it’s kind of making my lashes fall out! It’s not the ingredients that is causing it however but it may well have something to do with the fact that the product does exactly what it says on the tin….. and then some!

This glue applies to strip lashes as a milky white substance, but it dries to a clear finish. Its easy to apply and comes in a nice tube with a decent lid (many little glue tubes come with fiddly lids that won’t open again after the first use). Anyway, long story short this glue keeps your falsies safely stuck to your eyelids for 16hrs…..in fact I bet it would keep them stuck on for a week if that’s what you are into.

My difficulty lies in removing the glue once I have taken the falsies off. This stuff just seems to hide in every little crease of skin and hair on my eyes :( I didn’t cop that my sudden sparsity of lashes was due to this. It took me an evening of eye rubbing to finally figure out what the culprit was. You know that feeling you get that something is in your eye but you’re now sure what or where exactly?!Well, that was the feeling I had and it was driving me mental.

I had worn a pair of false eyelashes on a night out  and duly took them off and stuck them to the bathroom wall in my drunken state when i got home. I baby wiped my makeup off before falling into bed that night (i’m classy like that) and next morning I had another stab at removing the previous evenings slap, but this time I used my La Roche Posay cleanser. I had a shower then but still couldnt shake that something in my eye feeling. It was the next day whilst still rubbing my eyes that a little clump of eyelashes came out with some glue stuck to them :( Now a week later I have noticed my once long and full lashes are looking a little bit sparse and this saddens me greatly.

Does anyone have any good tips for getting eyelash glue off safely and effectively before I go looking for a different glue?

That’s a disaster! :( Not a clue to be honest, but I know Sinead (The Makeup Chair) was talking the other day about using Baby Oil to remove eyemakeup etc; although I don’t know how much extra help that would be for lash glue. I’d saturate a pad with whatever you’re using anyways and press it against the eye for as long as you can bear before taking it away. I always stick to the Duo Adhesive anyways! Hope your lashes come back! [MakeupOverMind]

The duo glue is fab! Available from Mac you get a huge tube of it it lasts ages as you only need a tiny bit!! I always hate waking up the next morning to tackle the glue! Thinking of getting permanent lashes just do I don’t have to take it off!!

Extra Vigin Olive Oil is really good for removing eyelash glue. Soak a cotton bud in it and apply it on the lashes. An oily eye makeup remover should also work quite well. Duo Adhesive is brilliant eyelash glue that a lot of MUA use,I think you can get it in Boots and the likes of Salon Services. HTH

The best thing to use (and I use it daily, because I wear my lashes everyday,) is Baby oil!! I wash my face with a good face wash, use a dab of baby oil on a washcloth and wipe off any glue and mascara left on, then I re-wash my face to remove the oil; to prevent break outs. I also soak my falsies in a little baby oil to remove makeup and glue for future use. I also wash them with a mild face soap after soaking and removing glue, so they wont be oily. This is a cheap and effective use, and should solve your problem.
