I usually use l’Oreal Elnett if I have the need for a bit of hairspray but I decided to give the Lidl Cien hairspray a whirl as part of my Supermarket Sweep reviews. I opted for the extra firm hold and volume spray, but they do have several sprays to cater for different requirements including, amongst others, formulations for coloured hair and for fine hold etc. You get a whopping 400ml tinny for under the €2.00 mark! Amazing, considering that an equally sized tin of Elnett would leave you with little change from ten euro bucks.
I put this firm hold spray to the test with a side parted bun do and to be honest it did exactly what it said on the tin. My hairstyle stayed intact for 14hrs straight; and those 14hrs included venturing out in the gales and some sweaty dancing!! The only downside to the product is that it does give you that “hard head” hair and unlike the L’oreal equivalent it doesn’t brush out very well; you would need to wash your hair after using this. That said, for the price of this product it is a definite keeper. I don’t use hairspray everyday so this is a perfect product for my arsenal if I fancied an up-style. Have you tried the Cien hairspray? Let me know in the comments!
