‘Tis the season to be bathing. The dark nights are drawing in, there’s a nip in the air and soon enough we’ll be traipsing home chilled to the bone and (more than likely) dripping wet. There’s nothing nicer than a steamy bath to warm yer cockles, relax your muscles and help you unwind after a day spent battling the Irish elements. So here’s to a new series of posts promoting a blissful bathing experience for all you dollies. First up is a beauty from Lush, Mrs Whippy bath bomb. This one is soon to be discontinued (why Lush, WHY?) so if you like the sound of it, get yourself to a Lush store pronto.
Mrs Whippy is intentionally reminiscent in looks, scent and texture of fluffy ice-cream with strawberry syrup. It’s not your usual shape of bath bomb, until you flip it over to its underside and see that the inner is a bath bomb encased in an ice-cream shaped exterior. You can see that mine crumbled a bit because of this construction, so if you prefer your bath bombs in one piece, be careful transporting it.
As well as the usual sodium bicarbonate (which gives bath bombs their fizz) this one contains soya milk powder and tapioca flour, resulting in a smoother feel to your bath water and thus your skin. I imagine this would be better for those with dry skin than your bog standard sodium bicarb bath bomb. Here’s what she looks like in the bath.
This one is a medium to slow fizzer. It gently bobs about your bath releasing its creamy foam and wonderful scent, leaving pale pink bathwater in its wake. This is strawberry ice-cream but for the adult female. The layering of tonka bean, cocoa absolute, almond essential oil and buchu beneath the berry mix creates a decadent scent. Much more mature than your usual Natural Collection (or dare I say, The Body Shop) style strawberry scents. Warm, indulgent, nostalgic and comforting. I’ve popped the bag which held this bath bomb into my underwear drawer, so my personals are lightly scented with this gorgeous fragrance.
I’m so very sad that this one is going to be discontinued. Generally, I don’t like to feature products that are hard to come by, as it’s really unfair on readers. However I’ll make an exception for this, as you just have to try it before it’s gone. Divine.
What do you use to create a blissful bathing experience? I’d love to hear about your favourite bath-time treats, so I can pick something to try next. Comments and suggestions appreciated!
